When it comes to affordable, modern, and integrity-based fashion, American Apparel earns an A+ across the board. The company is relatively young—only several years old—but has been widely successful due to its unique means of manufacturing and its eclectic, young clientele.

I first visited an American Apparel store when I took a trip up to San Francisco. What struck me as most interesting about the company was that all of its products are manufactured within the United States—hence the name: American Apparel.      

Every seam is stitched and then shipped within the U.S. What a great idea—the company not only provides jobs to people within the U.S. by keeping it domestic, but also snubs unfair, underpaid foreign labor which—in many countries—is often performed by children.

The clothing itself also maintains a certain aura of integrity. You won’t find logos and funky writing all over the clothing at American Apparel; instead, what you will find is a modern simplicity—a refreshing step back to the basics. T-shirts, skirts, dresses, leggings, shorts, and much more can be found in just about any cut, color or shade and are most often comprised of cotton and cotton blends—which means comfort.

Comfort is essential, and it is often overlooked in regards to fashion, but American Apparel brings it home. This is why so many people are flocking to the new store which recently opened up in the Village West in Claremont. Claremont is home to a youth and young adults that are educated, eclectic and ever-searching for what is new and interesting, so it is not uncommon to see students from the seven Claremont Colleges wandering about the store.

The Inland Empire is fortunate to have an American Apparel in Claremont, considering the other closest stores can only be found in Pasadena, Los Angeles, and Huntington Beach. Check it out soon. You’ll be pleasantly pleased.
